The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is hoping to speak to anyone who might have witnessed a serious collision on Monday, May 24 on North Parallel Road just east of Whatcom Road.
The crash took place at about 8:15 p.m. between a Volkswagen Jetta and a Honda Civic.
Sgt. Judy Bird said the Civic was heading west on North Parallel at a “high rate of speed” when it moved into the oncoming lane and crashed head-on into the Jetta.
Bird said the Civic was occupied by the driver and a passenger, who remains in hospital on a ventilator with serious injuries.
The Jetta was occupied by the driver and three passengers, including two small children. Bird said all were taken to hospital and, to date, the front passenger is recovering from “severe, life-altering injuries.”

She said members of the APD general investigation section and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service are continuing to investigate and gather evidence towards criminal charges.
“Though we are in the early stages of this investigation, alcohol and speed are suspected as a factor in this collision,” Bird said.
She said anyone who might have witnessed the crash or the driving behaviour of either vehicle or who has dashcam footage is asked to contact the APD.
Bird said investigators believe there were multiple witnesses and are particularly interested in locating a man whose silver Dodge pickup truck was parked in the nearby A & W parking lot, as well as a male and female who were travelling east on North Parallel Road in a white four-door car.
Anyone with information is asked to call the APD at 604-859-5225.
