The implementation of the E-Comm radio system has been delayed for the Abbotsford Police Department. The system was expected to begin operation at the beginning of May, but the 50-metre telecommunication tower on Old Yale Road has not been completed. Police Chief Bob Rich said the service is now slated to begin Sept. 14. The digital E-Comm will replace the current analog system that police say is antiquated and inadequate. The cost of the new system is estimated to be close to $1 million per year.
