Abbotsford strip mall dispute leaves bystander with car damage and pepper spray discomfort

Police seeking information about altercation last Friday at Abbotsford strip mall

An innocent bystander got the worst of an altercation between a man and a couple last Friday, and now police are looking for more information.

Police don’t know what prompted the dispute on Friday, May 22, around 3:15 p.m. between the two parties at 31970 South Fraser Way (the Value Village-anchored strip mall at South Fraser Way’s junction with intersection of Clearbrook Road). But it ended with a man trying to use pepper spray against a couple, and the couple fleeing in their car and striking a bystander’s vehicle. That bystander was also affected by the pepper spray, although police say she didn’t sustain any serious injuries, police say.

Police have released images of both parties involved in the altercation, along with the couple’s vehicle – an older dark-coloured Buick Century.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information or video footage linked to it is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
