With the 2017 provincial election now one year away, incumbents will be on the ballots in all three local ridings.

Abbosford South MLA Darryl Plecas, Abbotsford-Mission MLA Simon Gibson, and Abbotsford West MLA Mike de Jong have all confirmed to The News that they will run for re-election in next spring’s election, which is set for May 9, 2017.

“As always, I place my trust in the hands of the voters of Abbotsford-Mission and hope they allow me the honour once again to be their voice in Victoria,” Gibson said.

De Jong, who also serves as minister of finance, said: “I’ve been very gratified by the encouragement that I’ve received locally from people here in Abbotsford.” He said he feels he and his two Liberal candidates have worked well together.

Gibson and Plecas will be seeking their second terms in office, while de Jong will be seeking his seventh stint in the legislature.

Other parties have not announced their candidates for the election.
