Province chips in with more cash
A further $250,000 has been added to a bursary pool for aboriginal students at the University of Victoria.
There are about 700 indigenous students in the four-year supportive learning pilot project, called Le,Nonet.
Las fall UVic had committed $100,000 to run the project through peer mentorships, internships and bursaries. The funding injection from the provincial Ministry of Science and Universities was announced March 4. In addition to boosting the bursary account, the funds will also go toward an elder-in-residence program and expanding apprenticeship, internship and peer mentoring programs.
