Two Enderby residents are dead following an accident on Highway 97A in Spallumcheen Thursday.
Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP and North Okanagan Traffic Services responded to a two-vehicle accident at Mountain View Road on Highway 97A at around 6:30 p.m.
“The investigation has learned that a commercial Chevy truck was stopped making a left hand turn off the highway when it was struck from behind by a 2002 Chevy S10 pick-up,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.
The driver of the S10 from Enderby, 83, was trapped in the vehicle as a result of the impact and died at the scene.
The passenger in the vehicle, her husband, also 83, was rushed to Vernon Jubilee Hospital and then airlifted to Vancouver General because of his serious injuries. He died in VGH.
The 41-year-old driver of the commercial vehicle from Armstrong was not injured in the crash.
The investigation into the accident is continuing.
No names have been released.
