A two-vehicle accident on Highway 3 in the Bombi Pass sent one person to the hospital on Thursday morning.
The Castlegar Fire Department received the call shortly before 8 a.m. and attended the scene, along with the Ootischenia Fire Department, BC Ambulance Service and the Castlegar RCMP.
The incident involved a car and a logging truck and occurred approximately 3 kilometres east of Castlegar.
“One vehicle was coming down the hill westbound and a semi-truck was heading up the hill eastbound and it appears the vehicle lost control, spun into the oncoming lane and struck the logging truck,” said Cpl. Jason Olney of the Castlegar RCMP.
“There was one occupant that needed to be extricated from the vehicle,” said Sam Lattanzio, fire chief.
After being extricated from the car, the occupant was transported to hospital with what Olney described as “unknown injuries at this time.”
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Drivers are reminded to drive for the conditions.
