Two people accused in connection with the alleged murder of Roxanne Louie made a brief court appearance Thursday in front of a packed public gallery in Penticton.

Grace Elinor Robotti, 65, and her brother, 61-year-old Piers Louis Robotti, said nothing as they looked on from the prisoner’s dock during the four-minute hearing.

Lawyers for both Robottis said their clients agreed to stay in custody for at least two more weeks as the investigation continues.

Grace is charged with second-degree murder, while Piers is accused of interfering with human remains and being an accessory after the fact.

A spokeswoman for Louie’s family confirmed the 26-year-old victim’s body was discovered Monday morning in a wooded area near Chute Lake about 40 minutes from Penticton.

Members of Louie’s family and the broader First Nations community staged a rally outside the courthouse to demand justice for her and other aboriginal women who met with foul play.

More to come.
