A man accused of killing a Gabriola Island woman and attempting to murder her son will go to court next fall so that a judge can decide if there is enough evidence to go to trial.
Jason Daniel Cramer, who remains in custody, is charged with one count of second degree murder in the Aug. 3 death of Elaine Schwartz, 50, and one count of attempted murder in the attack on her 18-year-old son Trevor Schwartz.
Elaine Schwartz’s body was discovered around 5 p.m. Aug. 3 following a 911 call. Her son was found severely injured in a separate residence on the property. Cramer was arrested following a manhunt on the island.
He is scheduled to appear in Nanaimo provincial court July 24 and Sept. 4 for focus and trial conference hearings, then the case returns to court Oct. 19, 22, 23, 24 and 25 for a preliminary inquiry.
