Accused killer out on bail

Jamie Wolanski, accused in the stabbing death of a 16-year-old at a Penticton grad party, has been granted bail.

Wolanski, 19, faces charges of second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of Andrew McAdam at a graduation bush party held in June in the Carmi area. Wolanski has also been charged with assault, assaulting a peace officer, willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and uttering threats from a separate incident that took place on Feb. 11.

“He (Wolanski) got released on Monday on a $75,000 bail, including a $10,000 cash deposit and two assurities. There is about 17 conditions attached to his release but the highlights include a 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, he must not have any contact with the victim’s family or any witnesses in the case and he can’t be communicating on any social network sites. Another one of the conditions is he must reside with his parents,” said Sgt. Rick Dellebuur of the Penticton RCMP.

Police said another condition is Wolanski cannot consume alcohol or drugs not prescribed to him and must not be in any places where there might be alcohol or drugs.

Wolanski is due back in court on July 18 for the charges from February.
