In an often thankless job, RCMP officers were touched by a recent random of act of kindness and want to get a message out to those responsible.
“You know who you are but we don’t,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.
On July 11 and 12, several officers went out to their marked cars to discover a thank you card on their windshield.
The cards, decorated with stickers of flowers, butterflies and teddy bears, are anonymous, but nonetheless very much appreciated by everyone at the detachment.
“There’s not always nice messages left on our cars for officers,” said Molendyk, as the job can often solicit an unfavorable response by some.
Several of the cards are now proudly displayed on the bulletin board inside the detachment for all staff to see.
“We know of at least five of them that were left on the cars. There could have been a few more that our officers have kept for themselves,” smiled Molendyk.
“So on behalf of the members and staff of the Vernon/North Okanagan Detachment we would like to thank you for your anonymous cards, your random act of kindness was very much appreciated.”
