Adopt a box

Open your closets and begin the Spring cleaning! Shoe Bank Canada is busy preparing its annual Spring Shoe Drive in Kelowna and is excited to reach out to businesses and organizations to continue to collect reliable footwear for Canadians in need.

Businesses such as Capri Insurance, Tom Harris Cellular, Starbucks Coffee and more have opened their hearts and doors by adopting a box and helping Shoe Bank Canada’s efforts to accept shoe donations from the public.

Over the last five years, the charity has collected and distributed tens of thousands of pairs of shoes throughout Canada, reaching individuals in need of work shoes, winter boots, and other comfortable and reliable footwear. This couldn’t have been achieved without the help of local businesses.

“Capri Insurance became a bin host seven years ago. We jumped on board right away. We knew it would be a fantastic program and we love to give back to our community,” says Erika Jarvis, communications manager at the Kelowna office.

“To have donation bins at all Capri locations is really easy. It is also a great way for our staff and clients to connect over a great community initiative.”

Jim Belshaw, Shoe Bank Canada founder and board member, encourages new businesses to come on board to help make a difference throughout the year by signing up to become a bin host. “We are growing and need businesses like Capri Insurance to come on board, become a bin host and help us help our community.”

With ongoing issues of homelessness and individuals facing personal and financial struggles, Shoe Bank Canada is a welcomed service in the Okanagan and beyond.

Shoe Bank Canada has provided over 40,000 pairs of shoes to individuals in need and supported thousands of households. The charity runs Shoe Drives each Spring and Fall, reaching out to businesses and organizations to collect shoes and to make a difference in their communities.
