Adult male arrested after bank robbery at TD Canada Trust in Williams Lake

An adult male is in custody after a bank robbery at the TD Canada Trust on Second Avenue North in Williams Lake Wednesday, April 24.

An adult male is in custody after a bank robbery at the TD Canada Trust on Second Avenue North in Williams Lake Wednesday, April 24.

Williams Lake RCMP said they responded to the robbery at 4:45 p.m.

“A lone male was reported to have walked into the bank and demand cash after brandishing a knife. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the male fled.”

Police quickly attended the scene and within minutes, located and arrested the suspect believed to be responsible, at a nearby residence. He is being held for a court appearance at a later date.

At around midnight April 24, the RCMP executed a search warrant at a well-known drug trafficking residence on Pinchbeck Street in Williams Lake.

A quantity of marijuana and trafficking paraphernalia was seized along with the usual weapons of pepper spray and a machete.One male resident is in custody and the RCMP will be seeking a charge of Possession for the Purpose of trafficking.

Warren Brown said in a press release. “We rely on the public to ensure that all criminal matters, criminal suspicion, and the knowledge of anyone who jeopardizes our safety is brought to our attention.

“Without your eyes and ears, we would be far less effective. I am appreciative of the quality and quantity of community engagement that we have here in Williams Lake and surrounding areas including our First Nations Communities. I want to thank those people, agencies, groups, and organizations in these communities and neighbourhoods who assist us in our plight,” Brown said.
