At last night’s Carrie Underwood concert, the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC) welcomed its one millionth fan, Katie Iliffe.
Iliffe was pulled aside as she entered the AESC to receive the one millionth ticket, signed by Carrie Underwood.
She also received a prize package including tickets to a future AESC event as well as dinner for two courtesy of Ovations Food Services, an Abbotsford Heat ticket package for the 2013-14 season, a $100 gift card to be used at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre, a gift certificate at Greek Islands Restaurant, and other items.
“Since the facility first opened in 2009, the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre has continued to attract high caliber entertainment for the people of Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley” said Abbotsford Mayor Bruce Banman.
“Had you asked me five years ago about the possibility of Carrie Underwood performing in our city, I wouldn’t have believed it. Now here she is right here in our own backyard…”
After opening its doors on May 7, 2009, the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre has hosted events including Cirque du Soleil, John Fogerty, KISS, Maroon 5, Eric Church, Disney on Ice, the Harlem Globetrotters, and others.
The centre is also home to the American Hockey League’s Abbotsford Heat, who recently confirmed they will be returning for the 2013-14 season.
“This is an amazing moment for the City of Abbotsford and the building itself” said Global Spectrum’s Jason Blumenfeld, General Manager of the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre.
“We are excited to have celebrated the one millionth fan at our sold-out Carrie Underwood show last night and we could not have reached this milestone without the support of the residents of Abbotsford and everyone else who has come through the doors since we first opened the building in 2009.”
