Agassiz-Harrison records lowest COVID rate in Fraser Health last week: BCCDC

Only one new case of COVID-19 from May 2 to May 8

Agassiz-Harrison COVID numbers have reached their lowest in 2021 so far with only one additional case between May 2 and May 8.

According to the latest data from The B.C. Centre for Disease Control, Agassiz-Harrison had the lowest transmission rate in the eastern Fraser Valley and in Fraser Health as a whole, with surrounding local health areas Abbotsford recording 408 cases, Chilliwack 89 and the Hope local health area eight new cases.

Agassiz-Harrison has been on an up and down path since late March with double-digit spikes appearing every two weeks. There have been a total of 148 cases of COVID-19 in the local health area since the beginning of the year, averaging just over eight cases per week for 2021.

There are currently no public outbreaks or exposures, and there are no exposure events listed in Fraser-Cascade School District 78.

Vaccinations in Agassiz-Harrison continue through the end of May at the Agassiz Agricultural Hall on Pioneer Road; over the past few weeks, the vaccination clinics average more than 300 doses administered every Wednesday.
