Agassiz-Harrison voters have taken to the polls as the afternoon winds down, bringing the Fraser Valley and Canada closer to seeing their new government.
The Observer asked voters a simple but important question: Why did you vote today?
Georgina Olafson said her choice to vote, like many others, was compelled by a sense of duty and responsibility.
“I voted because it’s the right thing to do,” Pat Rollins added.
Rich Miller echoed that same sense of duty and patriotism.
“I voted because I am a Canadian and it is my free right to be able to vote for whoever I please,” Miller said. “Also, I can’t complain about any party if I didn’t choose to vote!”
Clar Cammarata voted to make a difference.
April Walkem Kennedy is a First Nations woman and said she chose to vote today because the Canadian government granted FIrst Nations people the right to vote in 1960.
