Chamber-organized tour visits four Abbotsford dairy operations

About 70 people visited a number of Abbotsford farms Friday as part of the 2014 Agriculture Bus Tour, organized by the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce.

The dairy industry was this year’s focus, with stops at EcoDairy, Birchwood Dairy, Rosegate Dairy and Goat’s Pride Dairy.

There are more than 100 dairy producers in Abbotsford who ship approximately 140 million litres of milk per year – about 20 per cent of the province’s production. The province as a whole has about 70,000 cows that produce almost 700 millions litres of milk, and the Fraser Valley produces approximately 73 per cent of that.
