Agrifair kicked off on Friday, with members of local 4-H clubs prepping for the weekend.

Despite clouds and light rain, visitors gathered at Agrifair on Friday afternoon to see the live entertainment, visit the tradeshow, ride the Midway rides and more.

Agrifair runs through the long weekend, from Aug. 2 to 5, with a theme of “Wild, Wild West.”

Friday night will continue with the Mighty Fraser Pro Rodeo, featuring a world-class rodeo clown, an experienced rodeo announcer and Graham Wardle of CBC’s Heartland.

Competitors will show their skills in bull riding, saddle bronc, barrel racing, steer wrestling, calf roping and more.

Wardle agreed to appear at Abbotsford Agrifair to raise funds for the flood response in High River, AB, where the CBC drama is filmed.

Wardle will be available to meet fans on Saturday, Aug. 3 from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at the 4-H barn, and then again from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m at the entrance to the rodeo.

On Saturday, Langley-born rocker-turned-country artist, Dallas Smith, will perform.

Smith, a Juno-nominated performer, is new to the country scene, but no stranger to musical success. He is the former lead vocalist of the alternative rock band, Default, and has release four albums, selling over a million copies.

The great entertainment will continue on Sunday evening with Jars of Clay.

The group performed their unique blend of alternative rock, folk, acoustic and R & B music, which draws fans from both the secular world and Christian community.

On Monday, the demolition derby returns, to bring automotive carnage to Abbotsford.

Throughout the weekend, there will be a variety of events for people of all ages, including fireworks, magicians, custom cars, wrestling, and Midway rides.
