Alberni tree falling victim identified

The BC Coroners Service confirmed that Lawrence David McDonald, 49, died from injuries sustained in a tree falling accident on Tuesday.

The man who was killed while falling a tree in Port Alberni has been identified.

The BC Coroners Service confirmed Wednesday that Lawrence David McDonald, 49, died from injuries sustained after falling a tree near Sproat Lake on Tuesday morning.

The Port Alberni resident was part of a tree-service crew falling trees on private property on Faber Road. He was falling a tree when the accident happened. McDonald’s co-workers found him shortly after the incident.

According to RCMP, McDonald suffered serious injuries to his leg and chest area.

BC Ambulance personnel transported McDonald to West Coast General Hospital but he died of his injuries.

The City of Port Alberni’s website list’s McDonald as the owner of Arrowsmith Tree Services.

The BC Coroners Service and WorkSafeBC are investigating this death.
