The Alberni Valley News has been nominated for three national newspaper awards by the Canadian Community Newspapers Association.
The News will also receive a CCNA Blue Ribbon as one of the best newspapers in Canada in our circulation category.
The Canadian Community Newspaper awards recognize the best in editorial, photography, multimedia and overall excellence in community newspaper publishing.
We have been nominated in the top three for our editorial pages as well as coverage of both sports and arts in the Alberni Valley. Awards will be handed out at the CCNA’s annual conference on April 26, which this year happens in Toronto, Ont.
“I am so pleased to see our editorial team recognized for their hard work and professionalism by their peers in the newspaper industry,” publisher Teresa Bird said. “These awards reflect their commitment to the Alberni Valley and to keeping the community informed on local events and issues that matter most.
“Of course, success comes from being part of a great team and everyone who works for the News, including our carriers, contractors and office staff, can take pride in knowing they play a part in delivering a nationally award-winning publication every week.”
This is the second year in a row for the News editorial staff to be nominated for national awards.
