Hundreds of people packed Glenwood Centre for the annual Remembrance Day ceremony in Port Alberni, Friday morning.

The event marks the first of four ceremonies held every year in the community. Once the main event concluded, people drove to the Field of Honour at Greenwood Cemetery for a rainy outdoor ceremony, another to mark the Vietnam Veterans gravesite at Greenwood, a third at the Hupacasath First Nation cemetery and a fourth at Harbour Quay for the Merchant Marines and the Schan family memorial.

Federal MP Gord Johns celebrated the day in Port Alberni, attending the ceremonies with his young son, River.

Provincial MLA Scott Fraser was also in attendance.
