It’s shaping up to be a concentrated type of community meeting ahead of the upcoming B.C. election.
Cultus Lake Community Association is hosting an All-Candidates’ Meeting for the riding of Chillwack-Kent on April 29, in conjunction with its Spring General Meeting.
Only two candidates have confirmed. NDP candidate Patti MacAhonic will be attending, along with BC Liberal incumbent Laurie Throness.
Recently named Chilliwack-Kent candidate for the Green Party, Josie Bleuer, will not be there since she has a prior commitment, according to organizers.
Candidates will be making short speeches and answering questions.
“All members of the constituency are welcome to attend, and we will not feel offended if they choose to leave at the end of the all-candidates’ portion of the meeting and not stay for the Cultus Lake issues,” said Rosemary Burrows, president of the Cultus Lake Community Association.
“In an effort to ensure voters have every opportunity to hear their candidates, the Cultus Lake Park Board has generously offered free parking for meeting attendees between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the overflow lots adjacent to the school.”
The offer of free parking does not however extend to the two Main Beach lots, the Oak Park lot or Marina parking lot, Burrows underlined, which are pay parking and could result in a ticket.
Cultus Lake Community Association hosts the All-Candidates’ Meeting for Chillwack-Kent candidates on April 29, 2017 starting at 10:30 a.m. in the gym at the Cultus Lake Community School on Sunnyside Blvd.
