Alleged car thief nabbed in downtown Victoria

Victoria police identify stolen vehicle, leading to foot chase and weapons charges

A 32-year-old man was arrested Saturday night for allegedly driving a stolen Dodge Charger and carrying concealed weapons.

When a Victoria police cruiser pulled over the vehicle in the 900-block of North Park Street, a man attempted to flee on foot but was soon apprehended, said Const. Mike Russell.

“He had a stun gun on him, not a police issue weapon, but more like one of those pokers, and also a collapsible baton,” Russell said, adding the suspect is well known to police.

The vehicle, along with other personal property, had been reported stolen to Langford RCMP on Thursday.
