Ambulance reaches victim before Search and Rescue

A female in her 40s suffered a serious leg injury while riding around the Bear Lake Main Forestry road area.

Friday afternoon, the BC ambulance service requested the assistance of the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) to help in retrieving an injured dirt bike rider.

A female in her 40s suffered a serious leg injury while riding around the Bear Lake Main Forestry road area. Due to traffic jams around the construction on Okanagan Lake Bridge, several members of the COSAR team could not get there.

As a result, COSAR  members already at the scene requested the assistance of the camp attendant at the Bear Creek recreational site who had an ATV.

COSAR members arrived at the injured woman’s location at Blue Grouse Logging Road and Trail #1 just as the BC Ambulance Crew was loading her into the ambulance.

The ambulance was able to reach her as she was only 100 meters off the road in a clearing.

The woman was transported to Kelowna General Hospital.
