An American’s attempt to smuggle a significant number of firearms into Canada was foiled by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers.
The border officers intercepted the firearms at the Aldergrove border crossing on Feb. 10.
Officers seized a total of three handguns, seven large capacity magazines and two rifles (including an AR-15 rifle) from a U.S. resident seeking entry into Canada.
The traveller was subsequently arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a restricted firearm, under the Criminal Code, and with smuggling, under the Customs Act.
