The 5th Garry Oak Scouts hit the streets Oct. 1 for Scouts Canada Apple Day.

Oak Bay OK’d the youth program’s Apple Day to raise public awareness and distribute apples as a way of saying ‘’thank you” for small donations in support of their activities.

Thrifty Foods donates the apples and the organization divides funds raised equally between 5th Garry Oak and Camp Barnard, the Scouts Canada property in Sooke.

Sites in Oak Bay where they will be on hand include near Pharmasave on Oak Bay Avenue and outside Pure Vanilla Bakery & Cafe on Cadboro Bay Road.

Apple Day involves boys and girls from Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers supervised by an adult at all times.
