It has been a most open welcome for Sr. Mary Doreen Smith since she arrived in Fort St. James.
Smith has been staying with the community at Lady of the Snows Catholic Church since November.
“Everyone has been so welcoming since I arrived. It’s such a lovely community here,” Smith said.
Smith has been a Sister of St. Joseph since 1958.
This community of Roman Catholic sisters are committed to nurturing community, making Christ present to the world through personal witness and living lives of service.
And for Smith, witnessing the community in Fort St. James has been nothing but a blessing.
“Sr. Divinia has been continues to introduce me to everyone and Father Frank has been so encouraging.”
Smith is also thoroughly enjoying all that surrounds her in Fort St. James.
“The sunsets and sunrises are just beautiful. I have been overwhelmed by the scenery,” Smith said.
“I am enjoying my time here. I have never received so many hugs in my life.”
