Annual bird count planned for the 23rd

Dec. 23 is the date of Ashcroft's annual Christmas Bird Count.

The annual Bird Count in Ashcroft/Cache Creek will be held Dec. 23 under the guidance and expertise of Karl Ricker from Whistler and Bert Parke from Logan Lake. Experts and amateurs alike are invited to take part.

Come on out for an brisk and interesting day of “citizen science” – of searching outside on foot and by car for any and all birds in our specific area.

We will meet at 8 am at the OK Stop in Ashcroft to fortify with coffee and to organize teams. Binoculars and a bird identification book are helpful but not necessary. Dress for spending a few hours outside in Winter temperatures.

The Bird Count is held all over the world by volunteers and collects valuable statistics on winter bird populations for such organizations as Bird Studies Canada.
