The 15th anniversary Crystal Gala was held in Abbotsford on Saturday night.

The theme for the sold-out event, held at the Ramada Plaza and Conference Centre, was “Crystals in Bloom.”

Funds raised from the annual gala go toward the fight against breast cancer.

To date, the Crystal Gala Foundation has raised more than $1.25 million, with $500,000 originally committed as the lead gift to A Campaign for Healthcare Excellence, supporting the new Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre.

Another $500,000 has been added to that commitment.

The support has resulted in the naming of the Crystal Gala Breast  Health Unit at the hospital, and ensuring the delivery of two state-of-the-art digital mammography machines.

Dorothy Dyck, a founding member of the Crystal Gala announces MRSaid technology is coming to Abbotsford Regional Hospital Cancer Centre. MRSaid will provide a better chance for surgeries to be performed infection free. This is especially important for patients with compromised health issues, such as cancer patients.

Continued funding will go toward a new patient-navigation program to guide patients through all their testing within 21 days, alleviating the stress and anxiety of wait times.
