Anonymous tips help solve crimes

2013-3503

Sometime overnight on Feb. 10, PetSmart at 6950 Island Highway was broken into. The front door lock was drilled through and an office was entered. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.

On Feb. 12, a trampoline in the backyard of a home in the 1700 block of Latimer Road was set on fire. The homeowner chased off three or four youth responsible for starting the fire. The only description obtained of the suspects was a tall female with blonde hair.

On Feb. 12, a break and enter was reported at Island Terminal located at 900 Phoenix Way near Duke Point. Suspects cut their way through a chain link fence then made off with some tools, flashlights and welding wire. Staff reported ATV quads have been seen in the area late at night and may be associated to the incident.

On Feb. 13, a teacher at Wellington Secondary School reported the driver’s window to his convertible BMW was smashed with an unknown object. The vehicle was parked in the rear lot of the school and the incident most likely occurred  between 3-4:30 p.m.

On Feb. 16, a bicycle locked outside London Drugs at Port Place shopping centre was stolen. The bike is a black and blue Rocky Mountain with a racing seat.

 

2013-4073

On Feb. 17 at approximately 12:50 p.m., a homeowner  at 478 Hewgate St. came face-to-face with a male attempting to steal tools from his shed. When confronted, the thief dropped the items and took off running toward Bruce Avenue. The suspect is described as a white male, 5’10”, with dirty blonde hair and 20 to 25 years of age. He was wearing black jeans, a brown sweater, blue jacket and gloves.

Sometime between Feb. 15-17, a 3.6-metre Lund aluminum boat with a 9.9 horsepower Mercury outboard motor was stolen from moorage slip No. 12 at 10 Wharf St. The boat was secured to the wharf by a heavy duty cable and the motor was bolted to the boat.

Sometime between  Feb. 15-18, a 1996 Honda Z50 motorbike was stolen from the backyard of 843 Douglas Ave. A blue BMX bike was left behind in the yard.

On Feb. 19, the front door to apartments at 3193 Barons Rd. was pried open, allowing access to the laundry room. Thieves then broke into two washing machines.

 

2013-4290

On Feb. 19 between 6:25-9:20 p.m., a home in the 700 block of St. George Street was broken into. A silver Acer laptop computer and gray HP Pavilion laptop computer were stolen.

 

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for these crimes.
