Penticton youth are planning another downtown rally for Friday, Sept. 24, calling on Canada’s leaders to take immediate action on the current climate emergency.

The march will start in front of the library and end at Gyro Park.

Similar to the recent Sept. 8 rally, the march will feature chants, instruments, signs, banners and speakers.

The theme for the rally will be ‘Uproot the System’ and will focus on “demanding an end to the systems that are fuelling climate change and blocking a sweeping transition to renewable energy and sustainable living practices.”

The Sept. 8 rally saw Penticton join 50 communities around Canada in calling for climate action, while this upcoming march will be a part of the third annual Fridays for Future Canada student action.

Masking and physical distancing is recommended to keep everyone safe.
