Investigators are dealing with another suspicious fire in Vernon.
A recycling dumpster was set ablaze at Interior Freight and Bottle Depot on 24th Avenue Monday at about 9:30 p.m.
“The bin was fully involved and our crew was able to keep it to the bin itself,” said Lawrie Skolrood, Vernon deputy fire chief.
The bin, which was inside a compound, was partially full of plastic material.
This is the second suspicious fire within less than a week.
On Oct. 16, firefighters were called to a three-storey building under construction in the 2700 block of 41st Avenue at about 9:48 p.m.
The building was in the framing stage of construction, and a man and woman were inside at the time of the fire. It’s not known why they were in the building.
The RCMP are involved in both investigations and it’s not known if these recent blazes are related to a rash of suspicious fires during the summer in Greater Vernon.
“It’s difficult to know. It’s something we’re definitely looking at,” said Skolrood.
