A six storey, 60-unit apartment complex just south of the Royal Oak shopping centre received final approval last week.
The district had withheld ratification of the development permit pending the registration of three covenants including one that obliges the developers to build according to the Built Green Gold or equivalent energy efficient standard.
Two office/commercial buildings served by one shared access currently sit on the site. The proposed development – which calls for a green roof – would be located on the property’s northern portion.
Council first considered the development this summer and the project enjoys the endorsement of the Royal Oak Community Association.
