The Crime Reduction Unit is a partnership between the City of Trail and the RCMP. The unit provides a monthly report of activities to Trail council.
March 31 – April 5 – Suspicious Death Cranbrook
Constable Crockford was requested to assist with a suspicious death investigation in Cranbrook mainly during regular days off. The investigation process provided valuable experience to the Trail RCMP. For further details see the news link below.
• April 6 – Warrant
Trail CRU assisted Castlegar CRU with attempts to locate a male fleeing police custody on a warrant. The male is known to have connections in Trail but was not located with any of his known associates in the area. The male was later located in Castlegar and was held for court.
• April 11 – Identification of Criminals Act
CRU located a male who failed to attend the Trail RCMP detachment to provide his fingerprints in accordance with the Identification of Criminals Act. CRU forwarded the original charge and was able to locate the male who was arrested on the warrant until his photographs and fingerprints were obtained.
• April 12 – Child Luring
CRU arrested a male for a breach of his conditions and forwarded a new charge based on further investigation.

• April 18 – Theft Castlegar
CRU located and arrested a Trail resident on a warrant from Castlegar. The male is known to CRU and as such CRU was easily able to locate him and transport him to court.
• April 19 – Impaired Driving
While driving in an unmarked CRU vehicle another vehicle stunted in front of CRU. A vehicle stop was initiated and the driver was found to be impaired. CRU proceeded with an investigation under the motor vehicle act. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was issued a prohibition from driving along with 2 violation tickets.
• April 24 – Breach of Recognizance
Constable Crockford testified in Provincial court for three counts of Breach of Probation against a male who was on conditions following a seizure by CRU on drug related charges. The male was found guilty on two of three charges.
• April 27 – Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
CRU learned of an unauthorized Marihuana Dispensary operating in the City of Trail. The owner of the residence has been the subject of an ongoing investigation for CRU. CRU authored an Information to Obtain a Search Warrant and located a substantial amount of marihuana, marihuana derivatives and ammunition in the residence. The owner of the residence along with another male were arrested and are awaiting court. See the following media article for further details.
