A young Saanich man faces a charge of aggravated assault after a stabbing Saturday morning sent one man to hospital with serious injuries.
Saanich police attended the 3900-block of St. Peters Rd. in the Quadra-McKenzie area around 3:45 a.m. and found three people suffering from injuries, including one who had been stabbed using a kitchen knife.
“It was a very chaotic scene,” said Sgt. Steve Eassie.
Eassie said investigators believe the incident began as an argument over a woman.
Police are still looking to speak with that woman, who has yet to be identified. People at the house aren’t co-operating with police.
“I would say that extreme levels of intoxication were also a factor,” he added.
The stabbing victim, a 31-year-old man, was taken to hospital, but was later released. A 44-year-old was also taken to hospital with facial injuries.
A 22-year-old Esquimalt man faces one count assault causing bodily harm.
Adam Taggart, a 20-year-old Saanich man, originally charged with attempted murder, now faces a charge of aggravated assault and appeared in court on Monday.
Police are asking anyone with information on the unidentified woman to call Det. Bryan Rowan at 250-475-4387.
