Armed robbery closes South Surrey bank

RCMP searching for masked suspect after he flees RBC in Morgan Crossing.

Police are searching for a man who held up a South Surrey bank Tuesday morning.

According to Mounties, a man wearing a navy ski mask and bandana produced a weapon while robbing the Royal Bank of Canada in Morgan Crossing in the 15700-block of Croydon Drive at 9:30 a.m.

Police would not specify what weapon was used.

No one was injured. The robber left with an undisclosed amount of money, and the bank was closed for part of the day, with broken glass from a shattered door littering the entrance.

It is not known if the man fled on foot or in a vehicle.

The robber is described as a white male in his late 20s, five-foot-10 with a slim build and wearing blue jeans, grey runners and gloves.

The bank remained shut down until mid- to late-afternoon, with a sign at the entrance directing patrons to the Johnston Road branch. .

Wednesday morning, a security guard was stationed inside.
