With a full council again in place, Armstrong Mayor Chris Pieper has shuffled his committee structure.

Newly elected Gary Froats, with a lengthy business background, has been added to the finance and administration committee, which will be chaired by Coun. Steven Drapala.

Froats has also been appointed to the planning and development commitee with Coun. Paul Britton remaining as chairperson.

“Our rookie councillors (Drapala, Werner and Lance McGregor) now have two years under their belt and it’s a good thing to move people around,” said Pieper.

“It allows everybody to get involved with every committee.”

Pieper restructures the committee membership every year.

Werner takes over from Shirley Fowler as chairperson of the community services committee, and McGregor, a former city employee, now heads up the public works committee, taking over from Drapala.

Fowler remains the city’s Regional District of North Okanagan representative, and joins Drapala on the Heaton Place strata-proxy votes list. She is also on the regional growth mnaagement advisory committee with Pieper.

The mayor stays on the Rathfriland sister city committee and is joined on the intermunicipal fire training centre policy board by Froats, a former firefighter.

Werner remains on the Okanagan Regional Library board.

Britton and McGregor will represent the city on the parks and recreation commission, and Britton joins Pieper at the fire service commission table.

Britton and McGregor were given three liaison appointments.

Britton was named to Armstrong Spallumcheen Trails Society, seniors housing and City of Vernon Affordable Housing Committee (non-voting member).

McGregor was named liaison for the Armstrong Heritage Society, Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce and First Nations, and will be joined by Drapala as liaisons for the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club.
