Armstrong infrastructure proceeds

Armstrong officials continue to invest in critical infrastructure upgrades.

Armstrong officials continue to invest in critical infrastructure upgrades.

On Tuesday, council approved a new backup generator for the Adair sewer treatment plant and a new headworks screen and other improvements for the facility.

“It’s part of the overall capital plan for 2017,” said Mayor Chris Pieper, adding that senior government grants were received which eases the burden on local taxpayers.

The backup generator will cost $85,269 and it will provide support in case the existing generator at the pump station goes down during a power outage.

“This will give confidence to the community that the sewer treatment facility will keep running,” said Pieper.

The cost of the new headworks screen is $35,422.
