A big ticket construction project has been officially wrapped up in Armstrong.
Upgrades to Dunn Road, which began May 5, have now been completed with the final paving.
“Residents will be extremely happy,” said Mayor Chris Pieper.
“There is more drainage and a lot less potholes.”
The $740,000 project included curbs, storm sewer, water and sanitary sewer.
Dunn Road is just the latest initiative as part of the city’s 35-year road infrastructure program.
“We have planned when we will redo every road,” said Pieper, adding that the list is based on the condition of the roads and the costs involved.
“We will do a project every year and eventually they will all be done.”
Work on Okanagan Street downtown will proceed next year.
But not everything happening within Armstrong is being done by the city.
CN Rail is expected to proceed with upgrades to the Fraser Road rail crossing today.
“CN has recently advised that they also have necessary repairs to remediate broken rails at both the Schubert Road and Rosedale Avenue crossings and have scheduled to complete these while they are completing the Fraser Road improvements,” said Melinda Stickney, chief administrative officer, in a report to members of the city’s public works committee.
Schubert Road was supposed to be done Tuesday while Rosedale Avenue is set for Thursday.
“The city has installed closure notification signs at all three crossings advising motorists of the scheduled closure dates,” said Stickney.
“Each crossing will be closed for one day with necessary paving being completed the same day.”
