Arson is suspected in a fire that occurred Tuesday evening at the Home Hardware building off Mackenzie Avenue.
The Williams Lake Fire Department was called to the business at about 9:30 p.m. for a fire had been started near one of the building’s exterior walls.
The fire spread to inside the wall and latterly to some interior areas of the building.
The two janitors in the building at the time made the emergency call which was responded to “fairly quickly,” according to fire chief Randy Isfeld, as it came in during the department’s regular practice night.
“We had the fire under control in 45 minutes,” Isfeld said.
There is no estimate on amount of damage to the business yet.
Isfeld said the RCMP is investigating the incident.
