The legendary Ogopogo lake monster has reared its head once again, this time in the form of a sculpture created by a Summerland artist.
Valorie Nielsen was commissioned by a Summerland family to create the sculpture.
She said the finished piece, which is nearly two metres long and in four pieces, required 70 kilograms of clay.
She spent at least 80 hours creating the sculpture, as well as many hours designing and planning the design.
Firing the four pieces of the sculpture required more than 100 hours of kiln time, she added.
While she was designing and creating the Ogopogo sculpture, Nielsen contacted artists in Canada and the United States for technical advice about the project.
