The much-anticipated ArtsWells 2011 line-up has been announced for what CBC has called one of Canada’s best festivals. The traffic on www.artswells.com is about to skyrocket!

Musicians, visual artists, dancers, puppeteers, actors, filmmakers, writers, and sundry oddballs without category have been phoning, e-mailing, and snail mailing their applications since last fall to the 8th Annual ArtsWells Festival of All Things Art, July 29 – Aug. 1. For the Island Mountain Arts team, that has meant months of negotiations and careful planning. All that hard work has paid off in the form of a line-up featuring names like Dave Bidini, Mr. Something Something and Australia’s The Re-Mains.

Although the lion’s share of the line-up is on the website now, there is still more to come; the curious will want to check back often. Details for workshops, films, theatre, and more are still being posted. ArtsWells also hosts the International One Minute Play Festival –

coming up on its 12th year – which takes much of its shape from the creative energy of festivalgoers.

As multi-year ArtsWells veteran Joey Only says, “ArtsWells is like summer camp for B.C. musicians!”

The good times that draw new and returning artists from all over Canada and beyond are also becoming legendary among audiences. ArtsWells has welcomed visitors from five continents, and it’s growing every year.

Tickets are on sale now through www.artswells.com; Island Mountain Arts at 1-800-442-2787; and at a number of retailers across Northern B.C.
