Ashcroft RCMP Detachment Police Report

Two lost items were found, a driver was going too slowly for someone's liking, and Pokémon Go players are asked to respect private property.

Concerned residents

On July 25 at noon, police received multiple calls from the Bonaparte Reserve about a male who was acting up. The male was believed to have mental health issues. No members of the public were injured, but residents were very concerned about the man’s wellbeing. Police attended with members of the BC Ambulance Service, and the male was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to Kamloops for further assessment.

Found property

On July 26 a bag containing a laptop computer, some movies, and other personal effects was found on Highway 97 near the Petro-Can station in Cache Creek. Anyone who thinks it might be theirs should contact the Ashcroft RCMP detachment.

Disturbing the peace

On July 28 at 9:40 p.m. police were called regarding a disturbance on Nugget Road in Cache Creek. A group of males, all locals, were reported to be yelling and screaming at each other, but there were no physical altercations. Police attended and dispersed the group, and there were no further disturbances.

Two car collision

On July 29 at noon, there was a report of a collision on Highway 97 in Cache Creek at Stage Road. A vehicle was turning left from Stage Road onto the highway, and two cars travelling northbound hit each other trying to avoid the left-turning driver. There were no injuries, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Slowpoke

On July 29 at 6 p.m., police received a report of a slow driver on Highway 1 near Cache Creek. A vehicle registered out of the lower mainland was reported to be driving excessively slowly. Police remind motorists that it is vacation season, with RVs and people who don’t know the local highways out on the roads. Please be patient.

Pokémon plea

Ashcroft RCMP would like to remind Pokémon Go players to be respectful of people’s property while playing the game. You can usually catch the Pokémon from the street, so there is no need to go onto private property.

Found property 2

On July 31 at 10 a.m., a member of the public turned in a black wallet that was found near Hungry Herbie’s in Cache Creek. The owner can claim it at the Ashcroft detachment if he or she can successfully identify it.
