A hot dog, a hit and run, a housewarming hubbub, and more.

Blew a tire

On May 31 at 8:50 a.m., police received a report of a motorcycle crash on Highway 1 near Walhachin. The driver, a resident of Ashcroft, had a tire blow out while he was driving, and sustained several broken ribs and a severe case of road rash. No o other vehicles were involved, and the driver was transferred to Royal Inland Hospital for treatment. The driver was wearing proper protective gear.

Hot dog

On May 31 at noon police received a call regarding a dog left unattended in a hot vehicle. Police would like to remind the public not to leave pets unattended in vehicles during hot weather.; if you are just running errands it is best to leave your pet at home where it has food, water, and shade. If police are called about an unattended pet in a hot vehicle and see that the animal is in distress they may smash one of the vehicle’s windows to save the pet.

Hit and run

On June 1 at 1:30 p.m. police received a report of a hit and run in the parking lot of a Cache Creek restaurant. There was light damage to the back of a car that had been parked in the lot, and no indication of who caused the damage. Agree to disagree

On June 2 at 10:00 a.m. police were called to a residence in downtown Ashcroft due to a fight between a landlord and tenant. There were no injuries, and neither party wanted to press charges.

Domestic dispute under investigation

On June 2 at 11:40 a.m., police were called to a residence in Ashcroft for a domestic assault. By the time police arrived the male suspect, a resident of the house, had departed the scene, but left his victim, also a resident of the house, with bruises. An investigation is ongoing.

Housewarming hubbub

On June 4 at 2:40 a.m., police were called to a loud party in downtown Ashcroft. An officer attended and noticed various people scattering as police arrived. The owner of the residence in question said that it was a housewarming party, and the remaining attendees were advised to go inside and keep it down. No further complaints were received.
