Ashcroft RCMP Detachment Police Report: Rollover runaway

Police are trying to find someone who rolled their pick-up on Cornwall Road, then left the scene.

Rollover on Cornwall Road

On March 3 at approximately 4 p.m., a witness called in a report of a single vehicle rollover. The vehicle was on Cornwall Road heading toward Highway 1 from Ashcroft, and after rolling came to a rest on the roadway on its four wheels. The vehicle was described as a black Ford pick-up and did not remain at the scene.

Police located the crash scene and noted a large aluminum lock box that would have been in the box of a pick-up truck. This item was seized for safekeeping, and police are interested in locating the vehicle owner to return the item, and speak to the driver to ensure there were no injuries. Any other witnesses are encouraged to contact police to assist in locating the vehicle and driver.

Increased police presence

Traffic enforcement was increased from March 3 to 5 during the “Beer Belly” hockey tournament in Ashcroft. Two 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions were issued on Saturday night during a road check at Brink Street and Highway 97C. The Ashcroft RCMP also responded to a call regarding a person being intoxicated in public near the area of Brink Street and 5th Street on March 3. The person was taken home where they would be safe for the night.
