The Williams Lake RCMP responded to a number of calls last week, ranging from shoplifting to a sudden deaths.
• On Jan. 10, the RCMP received a report that a female who resides in Toosey had scratched a male on the arm.
Officers attended the scene and determined charges were not required in this case.
• A female attended a local clothing store, took some items from the store and left without paying. The female is known to police. Attempts to locate this female are still ongoing.
• On Jan. 11 a male turned himself in on a prohibited driving warrant originating from an Alexis Creek file.
• A check stop was conducted at Second Avenue and Boundary Street. Officers made one drug seizure and issued two no drivers licence tickets.
• RCMP attended a sudden death of an elderly female. The cause of death was determined to be natural and no foul play is suspected.
• A female was seen contravening her court-imposed curfew. The officer attended her address to confirm that she was violating her curfew. The female was not at home. Breach charges have been recommended.
• RCMP received a report that a female returned home to find her husband deceased. Officers attended the residence along with the coroner. No foul play is suspected in this case.
• Sometime over the past two weeks, suspect(s) broke a basement window on a residence located on Litzenburgh Crescent. Suspect(s) failed to gain entry to the residence.
No suspects/witnesses have surfaced. The matter is still under investigation.
• On Jan. 12 scammers posed as Microsoft workers. The victim agreed to a virus cleanse of her computer and then paid $300 for the service. This is a known scam. Phone Busters was advised.
• On Jan. 13, there was a report of an assault with a weapon. Two youth males attended a local high school to confront a student over comments made on facebook. One male had a rock-filled bandanna in his possession. The incident was recorded on a fellow student’s iphone. One male was arrested for assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose as well as uttering threats and a breach.
• One male was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
• Around 9 p.m. numerous vehicles had their tires slashed in the parking lot of Oliver’s Pub. Also, a red truck was seen leaving the parking lot after damaging a sign. In the process of doing this the suspect left part of the vehicle’s running board behind. Police are still looking for a suspect in this investigation.
• On Jan. 15, a male was travelling south bound near the Nenqayni Wellness Centre on Highway 97 North and lost control of his Jeep Liberty.
The vehicle rolled approximately 100 feet down the embankment. The driver was miraculously uninjured and taken home.
