Assault outside Surrey pub

A young man is recovering in hospital following a fight outside a pub near 188 and Fraser Highway early Sunday morning.

Around 2 a.m. Surrey RCMP received a call of a man down outside the Dublin Crossing Irish Pub.

A 28 year-old man from Surrey was found unconscious in the parking lot following an altercation with another male, according to RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann.

The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was kept over-night for observation, according to RCMP.

“At this point the suspect is still outstanding,” said Schumann. “We do have one description (of the suspect) from one of the witnesses and we’re still waiting to talk to the victim.”

The pub parking lot was behind yellow police tape Sunday morning while police conducted an investigation of the scene.

Schumann also said RCMP will be reviewing all the video surveillance footage from businesses in the area.

Police are looking for anyone who witnessed the altercation and who hasn’t already spoken with an investigator, to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
