On December 16, 2011 a male was reported overdue for a radio contact with friends in Alaska and a request was made to check on the wellbeing of the 65 yr old man.

On December 17 Atlin Search and Rescue in far northwestern BC was activated by the Atlin RCMP and a team flew by small plane to the area and made a quick search of the remote property near the Taku River but did not locate the man nor any tracks.

On December 19 members of Atlin Search and Rescue, and a Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog and Handler from Carcross Search and Rescue were utilized to conduct a ground search of the property.

At approximately 2:30 PM on the 19th, the missing man was found deceased by the Carcross Search and Rescue dog and handler. The man’s body was found a few hundred meters away from his cabin.

RCMP investigators do not suspect that foul play is involved in the man’s death. The BC Coroners Service is continuing their investigation with the assistance of the Altin RCMP.

Next of kin has been notified and name is being withheld pending authorization from family.
