The report of a woman being attacked on Anderson Creek Trail last month did not happen as reported, and police are reassuring the public.

After a thorough investigation, Ridge Meadows RCMP have concluded the alleged attack of a woman on a walking trail on June 25 did not occur as reported, said a press release issued by the local detachment on Thursday evening.

The report at the time said a woman in her 20s was on the trail at about 1 p.m., near the 13900 block of 230th Street, when an unknown male knocked her to the ground. She fought back, and her assailant fled the scene, the story said.

She was even treated at hospital for minor injuries, and then released.

The “victim” told police she was unable to get a description of her attacker.

“The police investigation has revealed there was no random attack on the Anderson Creek trail on June 25, 2013,” said Cpl. Alanna Dunlop in Thursday’s release.

“This case concerned Ridge Meadows RCMP, and police investigators have worked tirelessly to get to the truth. I want to reassure our citizens that they are safe in our community.”
