Attempted car thefts in Cache Creek

Several attempted thefts around June 2-3.

Police received several reports of attempted auto thefts in Cache Creek around June 2-3, beginning with a complaint from the Castle Inn motel on Hwy 1. The motel owner reported that some time over night, unknown suspects had smashed the driver side window of a 1985 Pontiac Sunfire parked at the motel. The suspects failed to start the vehicle, as the battery was dead. It didn’t appear as if anything had been taken from the vehicle.

Suspects also targeted a 1994 Ford Tempo which was parked at the apartment building on Collins Rd. The driver’s side window was smashed and the ignition was damaged, and the thieves left without starting the car.

On June 6 police received a report that a UHaul van with Arizona plates parked at the UHaul compound on Stage Rd. between Hwy 97 and Quartz Rd. had been broken into. The driver’s side window was smashed and there was dried blood on the broken glass on the driver’s seat.

The matter is still under investigation.
